This 2 day home care conference was a great networking opportunity and increased exposure of the Igea brand to the Florida market. CBSA error noted on billing submissions with Palmetto

Please check the status of any claims/RAPs submitted to Palmetto within the last 2 weeks. Some Florida and Texas agencies have noticed issues in their submissions. All agencies, regardless of state, should check their submission to make sure there were no errors, since it is not thought to be a location-specific issue.

Igea Announces a New Referral Program

HB 441 - Regulation of Health Care Facilities and Services

The bill “HB 441” removes the quarterly reporting requirement for home health agencies, and the associated fines for late submittal of the report. Instead, the bill requires all home health agencies to submit the number of patients that are receiving home health services to AHCAH during the licensure renewal process.

Leaders in the home health industry, such as the National Association for Home Care and Hospice, are expressing their opposition to the proposed surety bonds. They are asking providers to join them in voicing their opposition, since they believe it could hurt small home health agencies. The article can be read here.
CMS Extends Targeted Home Health Moratorium

CMS announces the extension of temporary moratoria on the enrollment of new ambulance suppliers and home health agencies (HHAs) in specific locations within designated metropolitan areas in Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Texas, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The extension of the home health moratorium is targeted to prevent and combat fraud, waste and abuse. While HCAF believes many of the guidelines in the proposed rule are a positive step with regards to patient safety and agency operational guidelines, there were many areas that HCAF felt it was imperative that changes are recommended for the good of our members and the Medicare home health industry.

CMS announces payment changes for Medicare home health agencies for 2015

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced changes to the Medicare home health prospective payment system (HH PPS) for calendar year 2015. In a recent article, CMS projects that Medicare payments to home health agencies in 2015 will be reduced by 0.30 percent, or $60 million.
